It collects nothing, and you can check.
There is no analytics in this extension and no tracking, and you need no account to try it. It checks its licence key with us and sends nothing else. What you look at and what you download stays on your machine. Open the network tab and watch, if you like. If you subscribe, the payment goes through Razorpay or Stripe, and your account on counterspot.app keeps your email and the payment record.
- Stored in your browser
- Your recent searches, so you can run one again from the popup, plus your settings. Clear history in the popup or remove the extension and both are gone. There is no copy anywhere else.
- Read on ad library pages
- Only what the page has already loaded for you: ad IDs, advertiser names, dates, the ad text, and the links to images and videos. It does not alter either site's requests or their responses.
- Never read
- Any other website. Your Facebook or Google account. Your messages. Your browsing history. None of it is in scope and none of it is readable by the extension.
- During a download
- The list of ads you picked passes from the library tab to the download tab inside your browser. It is held in memory and gone the moment either tab closes.
- What a licence check sends
- Four things, to licence.counterspot.app: your licence key, a random install ID generated in your browser, the extension version, and the browser name. It goes on first run, when you enter a key, and roughly every few hours after. Never what you searched for, and never what you downloaded.
- The free trial
- On first run, a copy from the Chrome Web Store or Firefox Add-ons asks the licence server for its own ten-day trial key, sending the same install ID, version and browser name. If a trial isn't available, it still gets a key, so you can subscribe later. The key is kept in your browser and in its sync storage (Chrome Sync or Firefox Sync, if you use them), so a reinstall or your other computer picks it up. Nothing else is synced.
- If you subscribe
- You pay on Razorpay's or Stripe's own page, not in the extension. Your card, UPI or bank details go to them, never to us. To subscribe you sign in on counterspot.app, with an emailed link or with Continue with Google. When the payment goes through, the provider tells counterspot.app, which keeps your email (for the receipt, and to find your key if you lose it), your name and Google account ID if you signed in with Google, plus the payment and subscription IDs, the amount, currency, plan and billing period. We store a trimmed copy of the provider's notice: phone numbers, UPI addresses, bank and card details, names and addresses are dropped before anything is saved.
- What we keep
- The licence server keeps which browsers used a key, and when, so that a key quietly shared around an office shows up. It holds no names or emails: only an account ID, random install IDs and hashed IP addresses. Check-in history is deleted after ninety days. counterspot.app keeps your email, name, Google account ID and payment records, and hashes IP addresses the same way.
- Third parties
- Razorpay and Stripe, for payments only, and only if you subscribe. Google, only if you choose Continue with Google, which tells us your email, name and Google account ID. Beyond that, none: no analytics service, no error reporter, no ad network, and nothing sold or shared. Media files come straight from Meta's and Google's own servers to your disk without passing through us.
- Your rights
- Delete my account, on your Account page, erases your email, name and Google account ID and unlinks your keys. It needs no active subscription. Payment records are kept only where tax law requires, with the email removed. You can also ask us to delete your licence record and its check-in history. Removing the extension takes the key and the install ID off your browser.
Questions about any of this, write to us. The full technical version ships inside the extension, and that is the one we submit to the browser stores.
